The history of Macromercado began in 1922, when Don Samuel Mejlovitz and Doña Sofía Elbert established a retail store. This one, located on Porongos street between Blandengues and Independencia (now Marcelino Berthelot) was called Warehouse Palestine, to which a small bar, typical of the time, was later added.
