Holland & Barrett International is one of the world’s leading health and wellness retailers and the largest in Europe. Founded by William Holland and Alfred Barrett in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, in 1870. In 1920 Samuel Ryder, the man behind golf’s Ryder Cup, started selling seeds by post from his garden shed, a venture that grown into a successful mail order company Heath & Heather. It was renamed Holland & Barrett in 1970.
